Each of these characters gets improved growth rates, raised level and stat caps, and special skills that make them unstoppable forces of nature. People talk about overpowered party members all the time, but Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia really brings in the big guns. Once you do, you get a slew of incredible characters who are essentially gods. If you want to be absolutely prepared for the bonus dungeon in the sixth chapter, grinding the Lords of the Grave DLC map is the best way to max out your favorite party members. Between us, the only character I had at level 20 by the time the fifth chapter ended was Alm. 20 is the level cap for the Hero, Princess, Baron, Gold Knight, Priestess, Saint, Sage, Bow Knight, Dread Fighter, and Falcon Knight classes, and it can be very difficult to hit that. The higher your characters’ levels, the less experience they earn from defeating enemies. Here’s the thing about Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It is a great idea, but unfortunately one that doesn’t really become a factor until the fifth and sixth chapters of the game. When you purchase this, you can take maxed out secondary classes that have capped out at level 20 and turn the people into what can best be described as legendary warriors. This introduces the Overclass element to the game. There are plenty of extra activities for people to enjoy. These are marked with (DLC).Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia has an almost ridiculous amount of DLC. Some of these classes, as well as almost all further promotions (the only exception is Dread Fighter to Villager), are only accessible via specific DLC. Soothing Light (5 HP healed to adjacent allies at start of turn), Absolve (prevents damage from terrain) Some of these classes can only promote to tier 3 via specific DLC. Promotion occurs automatically after a certain plot point Promotion is available after a certain plot point The only exception is if a unit is promoted to Villager, which will reduce their movement range to 4 if it is higher.Ĭavalier, Mage, Soldier(Male), Mercenary(Male), Archer(Male), Pegasus Knight(Female), Cleric(Female) Otherwise, the only stat change that comes with promotion is +1 HP. If a unit has any stats below the base stats of the class they promote to, those stats will be brought up to the base stats of the class. Because you can only obtain one of these, it is recommended to think very carefully about who you want to use it on.Įach class above tier 0 has base stats.

With the use of the Pitchfork item, only available through the free Mila's Bounty 2 DLC, any unit except Alm and Celica can be promoted to Villager. This DLC is also included in the 44.99 USD season pass. Each DLC costs 1.99 USD, and the pack of all of them costs 14.99 USD.

The most interesting exception is Dread Fighter, which can promote down to Villager at level 10.Īll classes have an ultimate class, called an overclass, that they can only promote to if you own DLC corresponding to that overclass. Mages will promote to Sage if the character is male and Priestess if the character is female.

Villagers have several promotion options, a few of which are based on whether the character is male or female, but most other classes have only one. When a character's level is high enough to promote, they must be taken to a Mila statue, which is usually found in a dungeon, to promote. Promotion is accomplished differently than in other Fire Emblem games.
